Japanese medtech company Cyberdyne expands to Rotterdam
Cyberdyne, a Japanese MedTech company sets up an office at CIC Rotterdam, enjoying the vibrant innovative community at this international incubator. From this location, Cyberdyne will serve the European market. Its photoacoustic imaging technology will also be served to the US market from this location. Cyberdyne is best known for its unique exoskeletons which are controlled by “bio-electrical signals”, called Hybrid assistive limb (HAL). These can potentially improve the mobility capabilities of patients with spinal cord injury, stroke, and neuro muscular diseases. Cyberdyne was assisted by InnovationQuarter, Rotterdam Partners and Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency in its relocation process.

In its third year of existence, InnovationQuarter has had a record 12-month period, according to its 2016 Annual Report published today. The regional development agency attracted more foreign firms than ever to the region, has made no less than 19 investments and stimulated several dozen innovative partnerships between companies. In 2016, InnovationQuarter’s activities led to € 139 million of additional private investments and the creation of 971 new jobs in the region.
